KOUZON INTERNSHIP IN THE US PROGRAM
IVA VUKCEVIC – A GIRL THAT LOVES THE US AND ENJOYS HER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IN FLORIDA
We always strive to talk to our applicants while they are on the program, today we talked to Iva who is a former Work & Travel applicant of Kouzon and she is doing an internship program in Florida at the moment and is very happy that she got the chance to do that this year after she graduated in her home country of Montenegro!
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH YOUR PLACEMENT IN FLORIDA AND WHAT ARE YOU WORKING IN THE MOMENT?
1. It’s been 3 months now since I arrived in the US as an internship participant and I can say I am very happy! As every beginning. It wasn’t easy to get used to the new environment and people, but with the time I started loving it! I am currently enrolled in a one-year internship at the Marriot Resort in a small town on the West Florida Coast, Fort Myers. Being a food and beverage intern in here means rotating through different outlets around the resort and learning about operations. We are highly supported to get as much involved as we want in all areas, in order to get to know more and more about the hotel industry, and how it’s been developed here in the US. No Matter what your field is I would definitely recommend to everyone to try and do the internship program in the US because truly believe that the US is full of opportunities and knowledgeable people that can take advantage of and learn from!
DO YOU HAVE TIME TO ENJOY FLORIDA AND TO TRAVEL DURING YOUR PROGRAM?
2. There is definitely time for traveling as well! Program providers and employers are aware that this is a cultural experience and that I am supposed to travel around the US and learn new things about the US. I feel like this program improves my personal skills and makes me wanna become more self – aware and aware of all the differences around me. The US is practically full of people from all around the world and you can learn something from everyone!
WHAT’S THE BIGGEST ADVANTAGE OF THIS PROGRAM FOR YOU AND WHAT’S YOUR FINAL GOAL?
3. For me this program at first means self-growth! I really want to develop my personal and professional skills and gain some new ones. Making friends along the way is also a very important part for me and having friends from all over the world is an indescribable feeling, especially the excitement of making plans to visit them at their home country. I am very passionate about traveling so definitely will take an opportunity to mark off a few more things from my bucket list while I am here. The final goal is to figure out the direction I want to move forward to in the future after I come back to Montenegro!
We hope to have many successful stories like Iva’s in the future!
