German employers can hire foreign students from abroad for holiday jobs. To do this, employers need confirmation from the Central Foreign and Specialized Placement Service (Zentrale Auslands- und Fachvermittlung – ZAV), which mediates applicants.
Requirements
- You’re enrolled at an accredited university abroad.
- Your holiday job will take place during an official semester break at your foreign university.
- You will work a maximum of 90 days within 12 months.
- You are not older than 35 years old.
How to Apply
Many countries have partner organizations of the Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit) that can arrange holiday jobs.
Here is a list of these organizations.
If your country is not on the list, you can apply by sending your documents by post to the Central International and Specialist Placement Office in Cologne (address: Central International and Specialist Placement, Team 231/232, Villemombler Straße 76, 53123 Bonn).
Here are the documents you need to present:
- Application form for holiday employment [download it here].
- Declaration on the certificate of enrollment, to be completed by your university [download it here].
- Certificate of enrollment from your university in English or German, or an official translation in one of these languages to be attached.
- Copy of your passport.
